During a presentation ceremony at the Royal Aeronautical Society the President of the Society, AVM David Couzens, accepted a copy of the brand new Encyclopedia of Aerospace Engineering. The presentation took place at the Society’s London headquarters, No 4 Hamilton Place on 3rd November. Many Members of the Royal Aeronautical Society have contributed to the Encyclopedia, which represents a major publishing initiative to establish a high quality, print and online reference work that will enhance education, training and research in this complex and demanding field.
Published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd the Encyclopedia of Aerospace Engineering is the first largescale reference work to address the entire range of engineering and scientific principles of air and spacecraft design, construction and operation. In nine themed volumes it provides an unparalleled exposition of essential scientific concepts and their application to current engineering practice, laying a foundation for further research and study in specialist information sources. Extensive cross-referencing and online updating will ensure its unique, ongoing contribution to the engineering literature.
In recognition of the Society’s endorsement of, and contribution to, the Encyclopedia AVM David Couzens was presented with a copy for the Society’s National Aerospace Library. AVM Couzens commented “I am particularly impressed with the depth of research and information contained in the Encyclopedia. Many Society members have been able to contribute on a wide range of subjects making this Encyclopedia an invaluable and comprehensive reference source. The Society, along with our colleagues from the AIAA, are proud to have been associated with this endeavour.”
