Press Release - 2nd July 2010
Bill Read, the Features Editor of the Royal Aeronautical Society’s flagship publication Aerospace International, has received two nominations for the prestigious Aerospace Journalist of the Year Awards. The Awards takes place annually and hundreds of articles are submitted, so to be nominated for two awards is quite an achievement. Mr Read has been short-listed in the Propulsion Category, for his article “Power Plants” and the Systems & Technology Category for his article “Small is Beautiful” (read here).
As the features editor of Aerospace International Mr Read is based in Skelton, Yorkshire and works between his office in Skelton and the London headquarters of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS). Mr Read has been part of the editorial team at Aerospace International for 10 years and is responsible for the features and articles in the magazine.
Commenting on his nomination Mr Read said “One of my nominated articles is about the latest developments on biofuels for aircraft engines created from plants and algae while the other looks at micro and nano unmanned flying vehicles, including mechanical insects, flying seeds and robo humming birds. There are some amazing developments happening in aerospace engineering at the moment with regard to new materials and alternative fuels and I’m very pleased to play my part in publicising these achievements.”
Simon Luxmoore the Chief Executive of the Royal Aeronautical Society added “I am delighted that Bill has been received these two nominations for the Aerospace Journalist of the Year Awards. The excellent work by Bill and the team ensures that the Society’s publication, Aerospace International, is one of the most sought after in the aerospace publishing sector. Well done Bill.”
The presentation of the 2010 Aerospace Journalist Of The Year Awards is due to take place on 18th July, the eve of the Farnborough Airshow, at the Park Lane Hotel, London.
